This Project was an outcome from the first year of my degree. This project involved the dissassembly and blending of two existing garments sourced second hand and required innovation and creativity in order to meet the brief effectively. I chose to use a second hand kimono and a polyester blouse which I had sourced at second hand shops. What begun as a much more simplistic design was completely reimagined as I decided to break away from my own perception of and the traditional perception of what a garment should be. I chose to work with form and fluidity to create something that tranfsormed the individual into a goddess like being, dressed as though they were part of a painting. Through the location of the photoshoot which provided incredibly suitable lighting I was able to capture the garment exactly as I had hoped to. The lighting in the space illuminated the model, highlighting the undulating surface of the garment. The model herself contrasted the garment with her jet black hair which blended in with the ominous cieling of the garage behind her. Through this project I was able to strengthen and explore my creative capacity in fashion design.
